Fundaments for theater

Part two.

The jester leaves the audience. Left is a mirror and a young man looking at it.

Mirror: “This is you. You are nothing. I am in total command of you and everything you think and do.”

Man:    “Who are you?”

Mirror: “I am love and hate. I am time. I am soul. I am alive and you are dead.”

Man:    “How can you not be me?”

Mirror: “Cause I would have been nothing.”

Man:    “How is it you can see me?”

Mirror: “I knew when, where and what’s before you at all times.”

Man:    “What is your name?”

Mirror: “Shadow.”

Man:    “Then you can not and may not leave me!”

Mirror: “No.”

Man:    “Yet you are there when I can not see you.”

Mirror: “Yes and you loved me more than yourself.”

Man:    “Why so my shadow?”

Mirror: “As you say they illuded your sense of dignity. Sentenced you with their “love” and told you what to do at all times. In a way they told you; you are like me yet I am your soul.”

Man:    “What did they tell me? Were they unfriendly with me?”

Mirror: “They tricked you into another way of thought.”

Man:    “Yes I have grown to know. I have to repent or try to expel evil from my home.”

(Alright; man was hypnotized as a young boy.)

A glimpse of childhood memories appear in mirror.

Boy:    “I know I have a soul. I know our Lord watches over us.”

Mirror: “And they told you if you listened to them you would be in His favour.”

Boy:    “Who are they, shadow? And why didn’t you tell me before?”

We return to the man and the mirror.

Man:    “How is it and why is it they wanted to trick me?”

Mirror: “You can not and may not trick yourself, that’s why.”

Man:    “So in a way I am innocent?”

Mirror: “Yes. In a way all of us are. Except for Jester of course which lost it’s soul trying to steal yours.”

The man in the mirror walks out of the mirror and turns into a shadow. The young man leaves the room taking a walk into the mirror. The jester enters from a little box this time dressed as a woman.

Jester:  “You loved me more than yourself!”

Man:    “Damn, you, fool! Why is it you always know better!?”

Jester:  “I am older than you punish little boy.”

Man:    “Be gone! Leave me be!”

Jester:  “As you please.”

Jester now looks in mirror. There is no image there.

Jester:  “I am invisible! I can do anything! And no one can blame me for it!”

Of course the Jester believes they love it more.

The audience cheers.

Man comes out of the mirror.

Man:    ”I consumed my shadow and it didn’t die!”

The Jester doesn’t get to say anything and the box explodes leaving the Jester invisible and the boy a young man.
